Laboratory Technician - Geochemistry

Job Description This position will carry out various routine testing and analysis, following written work instructions under the direction of the Supervisor of a specific department. Duties may include sample identification, sample preparation, sample dilutions, Ensure samples are logged into LIMS accurately and in a quick manner. Working knowledge of LIMS Ensure samples are catalogued and stored in an efficient and easily retrievable manner. Assists laboratory personnel in locating and retrieving of samples and also responsible for sample disposal or returning samples to clients. Maintain and record equipment calibrations. Preparation of standards and reagents. Interpreting and evaluating results. Monitor Equipment maintenance & laboratory supplies. Follow all Quality system protocols, report discrepancies to the Supervisor. Qualifications A minimum of a high school diploma (or equivalent) is required. Experience is a Laboratory environment is an asset. Good hand/eye coordination when handling samples & lab equipment Must be comfortable with numerals in order to monitor data on a computer screen. Must be able to read, understand and follow work instructions in a safe, accurate and timely manner. Able to work well under pressure during high (peak) workloads and balancing conflicting demands of high volume versus the quality of results. Candidates must be proficient in using various types of computer software (Word, Excel. PowerPoint & Outlook). Candidates must demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work well with others & independently. Proven time management skills and a strong attention to detail. Able to work a rotating schedule - days, afternoons & evenings. Additional Information Compensation: $20.50 to $21.50 per hour / 40 hours per week. The laboratory technician will perform routine testing and analysis, including sample preparation, identification, and logging into the LIMS system. They are also responsible for maintaining equipment calibrations, managing laboratory supplies, and ensuring all work follows established quality protocols.

Candidates must have at least a high school diploma and be comfortable working with computer software and numerical data. The role requires the ability to work in a fast-paced laboratory environment, follow written instructions accurately, and maintain a rotating shift schedule.
