Nature of the Work & Responsibilities NATURE OF THE WORK: The primary and usual role of the person in this class of employment is to assist teaching staff in the preparation, presentation, supervision, and evaluation of laboratory or workshop work, and to perform, as needed, demonstration, monitoring, and tutoring functions. RESPONSIBILITIES: ________________________________________ Equipment maintenance and asset management Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair laboratory and shop equipment. Perform scheduled preventive maintenance and maintain service records. Support the installation, testing, and commissioning of new equipment. Manage inventories of spare parts, tooling, and consumables. ________________________________________ Manufacturing and fabrication support Design and fabricate simple fixtures, tooling, and equipment modifications. Maintain cutting tools and support manufacturing equipment readiness. Support the operation of Computer Integrated Manufacturing (CIM) systems. ________________________________________ Safety and compliance Promote and enforce safe laboratory and shop practices. Report safety concerns and equipment hazards to the faculty and department. Coordinate equipment- and facility-related activities with facilities management and external service providers. ________________________________________ Engineering technology support Maintain laboratory computers, software, and related technical systems. Coordinate repairs and upgrades of computer and peripheral equipment ________________________________________ Administrative support Maintain equipment maintenance and operational records. Provide status updates and recommendations on laboratory operations. Support laboratory, equipment, and facility improvement initiatives. Perform other related duties as assigned. Qualifications & Conditions QUALIFICATIONS: To have a diploma of college studies (DEC) in an appropriate specialty or a diploma or an attestation of studies which is recognized as equivalent by the competent authority. CONDITIONS: Working knowledge of PLCs and robotics. Working knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems with the ability to safely work with simple systems. Basic knowledge of electro-mechanical systems including machining and welding. Basic knowledge of CNC equipment, operation and programming (testing may be required) Basic knowledge of applications required for Mechanical Engineering technology (example AutoCAD, MasterCAM) (testing may be required) Basic knowledge of computers (Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook testing may be required) Ability to perform basic computer troubleshooting Advanced oral and written English communication skills (testing may be required) Basic oral and written French communication skills (testing may be required) Knowledge of CIM systems, CMM and wire EDM systems driven with CAD & CAM, an asset Additional Job Application Details Include a cover letter with your application addressed to Laura Smith.
