Your Opportunity: Alberta Health Services (AHS) is seeking a dedicated professional to join our pharmacy team as a Pharmacy Technician based out of Hanna Hospital. Help us achieve our purpose of delivering an exceptional medication experience through your character, collaboration, and continuous personal growth! You will coordinate and perform medication distribution activities including inventory management. Responsibilities include checking and dispensing patient‑specific medication orders prepared by other Pharmacy team members. You may also prepare, check, and dispense compounds and repackaged medications, support procurement and inventory control, and complete best possible medication histories with patients. Mentoring others, training new staff, and precepting students are key aspects of the role, along with collaboration with pharmacists and interdisciplinary teams. You will uphold NAPRA and ACP standards, oversee delegated tasks, contribute to operational activities, and improvement initiatives. Strong verbal and written English communication skills are essential, along with professionalism, accountability, and attention to detail. The ideal candidate excels in a fast‑paced environment, demonstrates reliability, critical thinking, and adaptability, and is committed to confidentiality, accuracy, and effective teamwork. Candidates must be able to work independently and collaboratively, follow instructions, and adapt to changing workflows and technologies. Physical requirements include visual acuity, keyboarding, lifting, bending, reaching, pushing, pulling, kneeling, extended standing, and walking. This role also involves handling hazardous medications using appropriate PPE. Description: As a Pharmacy Technician I, you will be responsible for the preparation and distribution of pharmaceutical products. You will receive and triage medication orders, compound and repackage medication and prepare sterile and non-sterile pharmaceutical products. Classification: Pharmacy Technician Union: HSAA Facility PROF/TECH Unit and Program: Pharmacy Primary Location: Hanna Health Centre Location Details: As Per Location Multi-Site: Not Applicable FTE: 0.40 Posting End Date: 24-AUG-2026 Temporary Employee Class: Temp P/T Benefits Date Available: 11-SEP-2026 Temporary End Date: 11-SEP-2027 Hours per Shift: 7.75 Length of Shift in weeks: 2 Shifts per cycle: 4 Shift Pattern: Days, On Call Days Off: As Per Rotation Minimum Salary: $34.01 Maximum Salary: $42.59 Vehicle Requirement: Not Applicable Required Qualifications: Completion of a CCAPP-accredited Pharmacy Technician Training Program. Current, provisional, or transferable registration with the Alberta College of Pharmacy (ACP) as a Pharmacy Technician. Additional Required Qualifications: Physical demands of the role include regular lifting of up to 30 lbs. and occasional lifting of up to 50 lbs., as well as frequent pushing and pulling, and standing or sitting for extended periods. Preferred Qualifications: Membership in a Pharmacy Technician association (e.g., PTSA/CAPT/CSHP) is preferred. Applicants should have recent experience a minimum of 1 year in the past 2 years as a technician in a hospital setting, incl. sterile and nonsterile compounding, inventory procurement, and completing Best Possible Medication Histories. Experience with Willow Pharmacy (Connect Care), Oracle, Pyxis or Omnicell systems, and automated packaging equipment.
